Growing up my mom would make this deliciously creamy frozen yogurt pie that I absolutely LOVED. It's yogurt and COOL WHIP Whipped Topping mixed together with some fruit and frozen into a scrumptious pie. This was pre-frozen yogurt shop days, so this was a big treat for me. So When I was asked if I would write about COOL WHIP, I knew exactly what I wanted to share with you. Any excuse to make a yummy dessert I'll take!
This is one of those dessert that you can make for a special occasion or just because. It definitely qualifies as an “everyday dessert” because it's quick, easy and a great treat to have on these warmer weather days. Plus, adding a dessert to the day is a great way to treat the family, and the kids love helping make things, especially when they are delicious. This dessert is fun and easy for the kids to help with!
Ingredients you need to make frozen yogurt and COOL WHIP pie:
- COOL WHIP
- Strawberry yogurt
- Fresh strawberries, chopped
- Graham cracker pie crust
Before I explain how to make this yummy pie, let me say, you can change this up to fit your own preferences. Pick a different fruit flavor, make your own pie crust or change the ratio of yogurt to COOL WHIP. You can also use frozen fruit instead of fresh if you'd like. Play around with the recipe a bit to see what you prefer. I used pre-made mini pies for this as well as Greek yogurt and then made some yogurt pops with the remaining mix. You can also make a standard sized pie and cut slices to serve.
Steps to make frozen yogurt COOL WHIP pie:
- Prepare pie crust as directed.
- Mix 1/2 yogurt and 1/2 COOL WHIP in a bowl. Approximately 1 1/2 cups each.
- Mix in 1 cup chopped strawberries.
- Scoop mix into pie crusts.
- Put in freezer overnight.
- Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving.
You can add a lot of yummy fun just by adding in a little COOL WHIP with your favorite pies, cakes and other desserts. I, however, prefer this fluffy mouthful of frozen yogurt goodness, it's a cold treat that you can enjoy all year long. I'd love to hear if you try it…. tell me about!
