More fun with Dr. Seuss inspired craft projects. Yesterday I showed you how to make cute yarn wrapped pencils. Today I'm showing you how to make the coordinating pencil holder. You can use whatever colors of yarn you'd like for this project. I used red and white to coordinate with the Dr. Seuss inspired yarn wrapped pencils I made yesterday.
Yarn Decorated Pencil Holder
To make the pencil holder, you will be wrapping yarn/twine around a recycled can. You can glue everything in place when you are finished or just tie off the yarn and enjoy your 15 minute masterpiece!
Materials:
- Recycled soup can
- White twine
- Red Twine
- Scissors
- Glue (optional)
How to step-by-step:
- Wrap both red and white yarn around the base of the can and tie a knot. Do not cut yarn from yarn ball.
- Wrap yarn around the can, pulling tight and occasionally pushing rows together as you go.
- When your wrapped rows reach the top of the can, carefully tie off the yarn and make a knot. Use the scissors to trim the excess yarn as needed.
Tip: you can cut yarn from yarn ball before wrapping, just make sure you leave even yarn to wrap your entire piece. I prefer to leave the yarn attached to the yarn ball so I don't waste yarn.
