Progress cleaning in the studio

Written by: | Published: March 13, 2012 | Updated: August 10, 2015

Do you remember a while back I pulled out the camera and opened the doors to my chaos of a studio space? My basement creative palace was a complete wreck. That was over a year ago and I'm still working on it. Hey, don't judge, I have a ton of things to do… like sit here and write about what I'm doing. However, I am slowly making progress getting things cleaned up and organized so I wanted to share what's up so far.

We took down all the floor to ceiling shelving and turned it into more counter space. Then my folks gave me some cabinets they pulled out while redoing their own house. I painted them white and my husband and son helped install them.

I also two tall cabinets when my grandmother moved, so all my fabric is hidden behind closed cabinet doors instead of out in the open. I still have a ton of work to do, piles more to organize and sort through. However, now I have more hidden storage to put things.

We also added new lighting so I can see what I'm doing I got a new sewing machine for Christmas last year. And, remember one of my shelf messed was old computer parts? It's come in handy, I've also added computer area to the new work space. I have a gigantic box of a monitor there in the far corner that I connect to so I can work down in the studio without dragging the computer from my desk upstairs. Eventually I'll have no desk upstairs and I'll have my kitchen back as just a kitchen.. some day.

Next I need to go through the piles of supplies you can see that are all around on the floor. That's a good to-do item for this next month.  Just knowing I've told you about the mess keeps me remembering I can't hid it forever. – wish me luck!

  1. I love it and that’s a HUGE space.. I’m so jealous! I used to have a craft room with walls of pegboard and I had all sorts of sizes of pegs and shelf brackets for the pegs.. really handy.. I have a little of that in my garage now but wish for an arts and crafts room again.
