Picnic Basket Update to Country Chic

Written by: | Published: August 12, 2014 | Updated: August 12, 2014

I've been working on a variety of fun picnic themed projects and realized all these new pieces were going to have to sit in an old raggy basket. I have a neat 3 basket set that I picked up at a thrift store years ago. They are traditional brown wicker, but definitely worn and not the pretty antique weathered look. They just looked old and tired. So I decided to grab one of the baskets and paint it.

I debated about using white or black to redo my basket. I'm not much of a white paint girl, so I opted for the black. I grabbed some spray paint and got moving.

When you paint baskets, make sure to flip the basket over and spray paint from different angles. That way you'll be sure to cover all the areas with the new color. This is what the basket looked like after I flipped it upside down… it looks like I missed half the wicker!

Once the basket was dry, it looked like new!

I added a lovely little white blanket inside, but you can go with the natural base too. Mush prettier, don't you think?
