I hear all the time that we should be looking up and watching what's ahead. It's great advice to look beyond the now, working towards a goal and watching where we are headed. Don't look down, hold your head up high and walk with confidence. However, sometimes it is ok to look down. Look at the path you are on and pay attention to the details around you. You might find you are right where you need to be right now… stop and enjoy it.
I took this photo after noticing the message written in the concrete path I was standing on. I had been watching my oldest son during his senior picture photo shoot. I was watching the moment and reminiscing about days gone by while also thinking about what's ahead. Where will we all be in a year, what is ahead for my son and his future, how will life change when he is on to the next chapter in his own life… and then I saw “I Love Dave” right at my feet. Dave is the name of my husband.
What better message to see written in stone? I'm glad I stopped to notice where I was standing at the moment. No matter where we go or what we do, family is something that is and should be at the foundation.
