How to make tissue paper flowers
You can make these quick and easy paper flowers with tissue paper or coffee filters. I like using coffee filters because the paper is a little thicker than standard tissue paper but still easy to shape and color.
I'll also show you how to make your own pretty flowers for decor and party ideas. You'll be able to make an entire bouquet of these pretty flowers in no time. Bring spring inside, even if there's still snow on the ground outside.
Materials:
- Coffee filters
- Watercolor paint set and brush
- Green pipe cleaners (chenille stems)
- 1/4″ wide Ribbon – I used green
- Spray bottle
Instructions
- First, paint the coffee filter with the paints. Don't worry about being too detailed, you'll want the colors to bleed together, so just basic stripes and shapes will work best.
- Using a spray bottle, lightly spray the coffee filter until damp. Allow to dry.
- Grab the center of the coffee filter and pinch between your finger.
- Twist the center until you have a cone shape.
- Tie ribbon around the pointed end of the cone to hold it in place.
- Wrap the end of a chenille stem over the ribbon to create a stem.
- Optionally you can create leaves and other accents if you'd like.
Painting Coffee filters to make tissue paper flowers
Apply color in layers to the coffee filter. I like to paint along the circle shape of the coffee filter for a pretty blended look. Experiment with different painting designs to see how the colors will look with your flowers.

Play with different levels of paint vs water to see how the colors blend. If you don't have paint, you can also use washable markers by drawing designs on the coffee filter and then spray with water to bleed the colors together.
