Yesterday, June 10th 2012, at Park Meadows Mall in Lone Tree, Colorado, the new Disney Store held it's grand opening. There was singing, dancing, cheering and loads of Disney fun. People started lining up to watch the ceremonies well before 8am (that's dedication!). By 10am, when the store opened, the crowd had grown the mall doors!
I've never been to a store opening, I didn't realize they could be so fun. The enthusiasm was contagious – and it wasn't just kids. There were big Disney fans all over the place!
A portion of the day's proceeds were donated to the Make-a-Wish foundation and a little girl participating in the program was chosen to “unlock the magic” at the grand opening ceremony. She was dressed in a beautiful Belle gown with matching shoes and a pretty little wand. During the ceremony she was given a big magic key to unlock the the store.
Minnie and Mickey were both there, live and in person. They were dancing and greeting guests at the opening ceremony. Later in the day they were available for photo opportunities with visitors.
I had fun watching the store cast members interacting with the crowd. They started cheering competitions, sang, danced with the kids and handed out Mickey ears. Throughout our visit at the mall we kept seeing Mickey ears everywhere – it was so fun!
I'm excited to see another Disney Store in Colorado. There is so much fun to be had when you walk into a Disney Store. From the theater and coloring area to the hidden Mickeys, the store is filled with magic, not just products. The next time you're at the mall, make sure to stop by. You can also check out upcoming events being hosted at the store by visiting
