I think wood slice ornaments are so pretty. I love taking a little piece of nature and turning it into something we can cherish. This year we had to take down one of our aspen trees, so instead of hauling the whole thing off or turning it all into firewood, we cut some of the branches into these small slices of wood. You can create your own wood slices or purchase pre-cut slices. These wood slice ornaments are easy to make and no wood burning tools. Grab your favorite twine, some glue and let's make some pretty ornaments today!
Wood Slice Ornaments
These ornaments feature pretty gold and silver twine. You can use any color you like.. look for the twine in the jewelry making or sewing sections of your local craft store.
Materials you need:
- Wood slices
- Gold or silver twine
- Glue
- Push pins / thumbtacks
- Eye hook for hanging
Instructions:
- Draw a design on the wood slice with the glue. If you'd like, sketch a design with pencil first.
- Place the twine on the glue and push pins through the twine to hold it in place. Allow to dry.
- Trim any excess twine. Add a the eye hook to the top of the wood slice, tie on some twine and hang.
You don't have to push the thumbtacks too far into the wood, just enough to hold the twine in place until the glue dries.
