We had a little extra family fun in the mountains this year. Copper Mountain's WitchCraft event is a family-friendly fall festival with activities both for the kids and the grownups. The weather is still warm enough in Colorado during September to enjoy Copper's fun park activities too, so you can really make a weekend of it!
Fall Fun at Copper Mountain's WitchCraft event
Get out a Halloween costume and head to the hills! The Copper Mountain WitchCraft event includes live music, yummy food, pumpkin painting and apple launching plus a whole pile of other family fun activities, right outside at the base of the ski hill. My husband and daughter adventured into the Haunted house – which I hear was amazing. I was hanging out with my son, checking out the stein hoisting and people watching – you won't find either of us walking through any houses with haunts on purpose – but my daughter LOVED it! For the younger kids there's also a fun bounce house and for the grownups there's plenty of beer – we even saw a chili cook-off.
This was the first year for the Witch Craft event and it was a perfect fall fun day. We showed up after noon on the first day, so some of the activities were yet to come. Throughout the 2 weekend event, there are various costume contests, parades, food tastings and activities to keep you entertained. Make sure, when you go, to wear a costume (even pets are allowed in costume too)! When you check in, the kids will get a little treat bag and can go around the various shops trick-or-treating for candies.
We've been going to Copper for a few years to take my son to the annual summer snowboard camp, Woodward and have always enjoyed the visit. Copper Mountain is a fun ski village with plenty of food and shops to keep you busy, fed and entertained – even during off season. It's an easy 1.5 hour drive from Denver with plenty of parking and room to enjoy your day. I imagine the WitchCraft event will become a tradition for fall fun in years to come. Don't forget to show up in costume, ready to play!
While you're visiting all the WitchCraft fun, you can also grab the traditional Copper Mountain activity pass and have fun bungee jumping, racing go carts and plenty of other activities.
It was a little rainy the day we went, so some of the activities were closed for a bit, so make sure to check the weather and plan accordingly. We had a great time. Make sure to bring a jacket and be prepared to play! If you're lucky, Mother Nature will play along and show off her fall colors while you're here too.
I must say I loved reading about the fall at Copper. I’m a former employee and I can’t tell you how much I’m missing the beauty of the seasons there. I’m glad to see they are incorporating for activities for the resort. Love seeing the place grow.
What a fantastic place to have worked! I wish I could go to the mountains more often… it’s always so beautiful, isn’t it?
