Draw Coloring Pages and Cards with Your Cricut

Written by: | Published: December 26, 2017 | Updated: June 26, 2023

Did you know you can draw coloring pages and cards with your Cricut? Turn standard cut and draw images into fun coloring designs and add your own unique style. You can personalize designs to create custom coloring cards, tags and more. This is one of my favorite Cricut projects. You can use all different pen types to create different looks and it’s easy to change up designs to create unique coloring cards for all your friends. This is lesson 10 in the Drawing and Writing with your Cricut series.

Use your Cricut to draw coloring pages and cards

One of my favorite drawing projects is coloring pages and cards. You can customize the designs, add words and pretty line art to create unique coloring pages that you don’t have to draw yourself. For an extra special touch, use different colored pens or glitter pens when drawing your coloring pages.

For this tutorial you need the following materials:

Today we will talk about:

  • Think about the lines
  • Choose your pen colors
  • Drawing designs
  • Multiple projects with one design

Think about the lines

The most important item to note when making coloring pages with your Cricut is where the lines will be drawing. Lines will overlap or double up, depending on the designs you are drawing. So pay close attention to how the art looks as you’re creating in Cricut Design Space. I think it’s ok for some of the lines to overlap… but too many could make for a confusing coloring design.

Choose your pen colors

For a traditional coloring page, you can go with black pens. Remember there are choices of black pens you can use with your Cricut machine. Different pen thicknesses will create different lines, so play with the options. For a fancier coloring page, try using different colored pens, metallics or glitters. This is what makes creating coloring pages with Cricut so special… you don’t have to use just black ink. Add some sparkle!

Drawing designs

Use standard cut designs, drawing designs or a combination to make your coloring pages. I like to use shapes multiple times at different sizes to create fun coloring spaces. I’ve created a few coloring pages with my Cricut that are available in Cricut Design Space for you to try.

Multiple projects with one design

As with all Cricut projects, you can create a variety of different projects from a single set up. Just change your colors or do a little rearranging. For this coloring card, I’ve set up a Cricut Design Space canvas that is all ready to create with multiple pen colors. You can change all the lines to black to create a card like the photo example. OR you can also change everything to print instead of draw and make a fun colored card with a little drawing accent. Play with the options and see what you come up with!

Whether you make a full on coloring card with your Cricut or you just add drawing designs to a printed card, the options are only limited to your creative ideas. Play with colors and pen types, add drawings to existing projects and make all new projects with just drawing. The Cricut pen is one of the best tool options available with so many choices of what you can create!

  1. I’m dying to make this card, but I can’t find it- the link or the file on Design Space. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?
