There's something extra special about making your own frosting. I'm all about using a pre-made can of standard frosting for whatever we are making. However, I love homemade cream cheese frosting.
This is the cream cheese frosting recipe I make the most. I add a little bit of almond extract for a touch of flavor. If you don't love almond, it's ok to leave it out.
Ingredients
- 1 8oz. pkg. softened cream cheese
- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 4 cups powdered sugar (1 16 oz. package)
Tip: You can omit the almond extract if you'd like. We like the extra touch of flavor.
Instructions
- Beat cream cheese, butter, vanilla and almond extract in large bowl with mixer until blended.
- Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition until blended.
Ta Dah! That's it.
You can use this frosting recipe with your favorite cakes and cookies… or just make a batch and grab a spoon.
Funny side note, I love to collect cupcake recipes, but I don't actually have any of my own yet. What are your favorite cupcakes?
