You know I love a pretty picture. So of course I was excited to test out the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II digital camera.Not only is the camera itself pretty, the photos it is capable of taking are beautiful! This is an easy to use camera, small enough to fit in a pocket or purse and the features are fabulous. Today I'm sharing my favorite things about this tiny gem of a camera.

Favorite Features of the Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II
Let's start off with the camera features I really like. I do love great tech and tools. My #1 concern is always how well something works, more than how pretty it is. If it's pretty but doesn't get the job done, then I'm not going to use it. The Canon G9 X Mark II has both style and function. I love the closeup shot and color quality the best. This camera is an easy-to-travel with size and produces great, high quality photos.
Beautiful Design First, this camera is beautiful. It's got a retro style with modern features. The brown leather look is stunning!
Small Size The Canon G9 X is so small! It easily fit into my small travel back and purse. I could carry it in my pocket or the accessories section of a backpack no problem making it super easy to take just about anywhere.
Touch Screen The LCD screen is touch enabled. You can work through the settings screens with your finger as well as find the focus point of an image you are trying to shoot.
WiFi If you like to share photos on the go, this Canon comes with built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. You can connect to a number of devices right from an easy to read screen options.
You can also connect the camera via USB if you prefer. There's a handy port hidden on the side of the camera.
Plenty of Photo Shooting Options Shoot in a variety of preset options as well as RAW. I own an old Canon Rebel XT, so I'm familiar with some of the presets the G9 X offers. It's an easy camera to use for both auto or manual options. Adjust your settings or go with a ready-to-shoot pre-set. Both result in photos you'll love.
Rechargeable Battery and Camera Card fit nicely together in a bay at the bottom of the camera. There's also a threaded camera stand attachment spot at the bottom. This fit perfectly on my standard tripod attachment.

Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II Photo Features I love
Now let's talk about the photos. It's all fine and good to have a tone of easy-to-use features, but a camera needs to products lovely photos. I really do love the photos I was able to capture with this camera. Whether I was outside watching the kids in action, or inside capturing small details, this camera delivered great quality at a fantastic resolution. You could easily use this camera for both web and print work.
This shot has a really unique look. I don't remember what settings I used as I spent a good day just playing with all kinds of adjustments and then found this photo when I downloaded everything from the camera card. I love the look… This was taken from inside my house, looking out on my backyard.
Continuous Shooting I love shooting burst photos on my phone. The continuous shooting speeds for the Canon G9 X are up to 8.2 fps. This is great to getting that perfect action shot without filming a video. I captured these flags using the continuous photo option as well as the zoom on a windy day. I was surprised how clear these images turned out.
Crisp Action Images I took this camera to both a pro baseball game and my son's flag football game. I love the quality and crispness of the action shots. I did not use a tripod for this shot. This is a zoomed shot as well… not too closeup, but enough to capture the moment.
Video Capabilities There are a number of video options to choose from. I'm not a huge video girl yet, so I focused on the photo capabilities, but this camera is packed full of movie functions you'll love.
Detailed Closeups I love a good macro shot. From unique angles to tough lighting, this camera does a great job with closeups. There's something about seeing the pits in a paint palette or the bristles of a brush that I love. Some cameras seem to struggle to capture details with white images, this camera handles even white details well. I really love the way this camera handles this super tight close up shots.
Stunning Colors One of my favorite features of the Canon G9 X is the gorgeous color quality. I love my color photos and this camera does not disappoint. Yes, I usually edit photos before I publish, but these photos were beautiful from the start. The colors are vivid and bright. Look at the color in the details of this tulip shot.
Final side notes: I found this camera has 2 small drawbacks and it could be my own user error. The zoom quality especially with movement isn't all that, but digital zoom is never better than an actual zoom, so if you're looking for long shot images, you just need a real lens. Also, this camera would not take any photos without a camera card and the card does not come with the camera. There didn't seem to be any built in memory. So make sure you buy the appropriate card when you buy this camera.
So there ya have it! The Canon G9 X Mark II is a great little camera. It's so easy to use and packed full of features. I think you'll love the color and details it can capture.
