From the beautifully detailed outfits to the gorgeous backdrops in every scene, Disney's Beauty and the Beast is full of art you will love. I might be a bit biased. I do love old world French style and this new live action Disney movie is full of ornate details and plenty of dramatic mood lighting. It makes me want to head to France just to see more of this fantastic art style. I can't tell you enough how much I love the art and design of this movie… it's definitely one of my favorites in this newer Disney film style.
Disney's Beauty and the Beast – Art You'll Love
Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters March 17th. Head out to see it opening day, you'll want to see it again in the theater, I'm sure!
If you're more about storylines or musical scores, you won't be disappointed. Absolutely the storyline of Beauty and the Beast is lovely. This version of the movie follows the same story as the original Disney animated Beauty and the Beast with more interesting perspectives, perfect for live action. The music is wonderful and the bit of humor are fun and many times, unexpected.
You can watch this film without any sound at all and still fill you mind with amazing creative goodness. The art clearly communicates the passion, drama, entertainment and emotion throughout the movie. You can also watch this film without every seeing the original and enjoy it just the same. The heros are the heros and the villains are still the villains.
One of the things I found the most fun to watch is the change in mood you could see just with the use of color. Because it's live action, showing a feeling just from the color of a scene is impressive to me. The opening of the movie is full of bright, happy singing and spring colors with what I envision as a pretty Parisian-esque feel (maybe aka French Country). Then when we are watching scenes at Beast's castle the colors go from dark and grim to dark and inviting and.. just from the change in lighting. This scene is a new twist in the story I don't remember from the animated version and the dark blue says it all.. without hearing a single line.
There There are a few new characters, or at least I don't recall them from the previous version. And of course, Mrs. Potts and Chip are still adorable. There were a couple characters that I didn't care for as much as I did in the original animated film… but it wouldn't keep me from seeing this movie again. Adding the real human interaction along with all the amazing design detail made this movie a joy to watch. Fancy eye candy for days.
I told you… I adore Beauty and the Beast! You need to go see it… and the full view, in the theaters is a must. Sit right in the middle of the theater and surround yourself with this gorgeous new Disney movie!
Trend spotting… I'm going to bet we'll see plenty of Belle dresses this coming fall – both the pretty yellow gown and the lovely blue farm dress. Grab a date and get your Beauty and the Beast.
I would love to hear what you think of Beauty and the Beast. Head to the theaters this weekend and then hop back by and tell me if you loved it. What's your favorite seen?
