Sometimes you just want to showcase a photo or frame an image you love, right? So today I'm sharing an easy way to highlight a favorite photo. I'm using my Cricut Explore and hand illustrated page to help put this photo in the spotlight.
I really love using black and white to decorate, I think especially with photos, black and white makes the color really shine through. This projects uses a free SVG cut file you can use to show off your own images. Because I used a cut file with my Cricut machine, you could make this frame any color you'd like… even use a pretty patterned paper to showcase your pictures.
Keep reading, I'm sharing the cut file and a printable background below so you can make this project too.
How to Create a Photo Frame with Your Cricut
Remember a while back I created a whole series of Fridge Magnet Photo Frames?
This photo frame is part of that series and today I'm showing you how you can combine it with other layers to create a whole look for a framed photo. Add layers of color to help highlight some of the features in your photos. In this case, I really wanted the smiles to be the focus. I used a white textured cardstock and a custom designed cut and drawing file with my Cricut Explore (you can grab a copy for yourself below). The texture on the cardstock along with the Cricut pen in midnight had a really neat hand drawn look.
I layered the white cut files on top of the photo and then placed the photo on top of a hand illustrated background paper. You can grab this background paper below too – yay!! If you want to make your own, I used black cardstock and a white Gelly Roll pen. So easy!
To give the white cut frame piece a little lift, I put spacers between the layers of cardstock. You could also just place the layers directly on top of eachother. It all depends on the look you are going for. Add a layer of color to accent a feature in the photo or maybe make the entire photo matt white with subtle drawing accents. You can use your Cricut to draw designs from your library, or use your Cricut Explore to draw designs you create yourself.
